4,900 pages to a revised remediation plan. In two and a half days.

A mining company needed every area of potential environmental concern and every contaminant of concern in decades of reports, compared against current risk-based guidelines, before it could revise its remediation plan.

~257

working days by hand, estimated

The challenge

The record had grown over decades. Each APEC had been investigated by different consultants under different scopes of work, so no single report held the whole picture.

The approach

Statvis ingested, read, extracted and organized the full document set in under 55 hours. The APEC and contaminant review, the comparison against current risk-based guidelines and the report took another 7 hours.

By hand, reading 4,900 pages at 15 pages an hour takes about 328 hours. Organizing, consolidating and preparing the deliverable takes about 1,725 more. Together that is roughly 257 working days, an estimated $308,000 in effort.

The result

With the comparison in hand, the company revised its plans. The site met risk-based criteria with no further work required.
